Marriott also Recognized White Lodging with Opening of the Year and Partnership Circle Awards

MERRILLVILLE, IN (January 2, 2019) – Each year, more than 1,000 Marriott International hotel owners, operators and developers converge at the Marriott CONNECT Conference. As part of the conference, held this year in San Diego on December 17-18, Marriott recognized the best-performing. This year, White Lodging was recognized with three of Marriott’s prestigious awards: Developer of the Year, Opening of the Year and Partnership Circle.

  • The Developer of the Year award for select service brands was awarded to White Lodging in recognition of the 32-story dual-branded Aloft and Element Austin Downtown and the dual-branded Fairfield Inn & Suites and TownePlace Suites in Louisville. The Austin properties opened with 418 combined rooms in July 2017 and the Louisville properties opened in April 2018 with 157 combined rooms.

Marriott also recognized White Lodging’s pipeline of new hotels actively in development, counting eight Marriot branded hotels in the next three years, including the Marriott Austin Downtown Convention Center and the JW Marriott Charlotte. White Lodging has been recognized with the Developer of the Year award several times, including most recently in 2014.

  • White Lodging’s Element Austin Downtown was recognized with the Opening of the Year award, one of 11 properties to secure this honor. The property features three unique dining options, including a new local rooftop bar and gaming yard called Upstairs at Caroline. White Lodging has received the Opening of the Year for several select and full service Marriott hotels, including the Westin Milwaukee Downtown in 2017 and the JW Marriott Austin in 2015.
  • The Partnership Circle award was presented to White Lodging and 24 others. White Lodging has been regularly honored with the Partnership Circle award over the past 10 years and currently represents 57 Marriott branded hotels.
