Funds Benefit b Instrumental Program

At an event celebrating the Fort Wayne Community Schools Foundation’s b Instrumental program and the opening of the Hampton Inn & Suites Fort Wayne Downtown, White Lodging announced it will match the first $50,000 of the program’s next fundraising push.

“We appreciate White Lodging’s generous donation, recognizing the importance of excellence in education,” said Dr. Wendy Robinson, Superintendent of Fort Wayne Community Schools. “We believe strongly in maintaining high quality fine arts programs for our students, and community partners, such as White Lodging, make it possible to offer the best to our students.”

“Involvement in music and the arts has a transformative effect on young peoples’ lives and b Instrumental is filling a critical need for instruments and programs at a time when funding of these programs nationally is diminishing,” said Deno Yiankes, president and CEO, investments and development at White Lodging. “We’re grateful to play a small part in making Fort Wayne Community Schools a place where music can thrive and encourage others to join in and support this important program. Every donation – large and small – can make a difference in a student’s life.”

Launched in 2016, the b Instrumental program is showing great success in retaining students in music programs as well as higher test scores, better attendance and fewer discipline referrals.

The FWCS Foundation has raised more than $1.6 million to date thanks to hundreds of generous donors. In the final push of the campaign, the b Instrumental program is seeking raise an additional $350,000, which will support the execution of the program in all Fort Wayne middle and high schools.

The event featured live student musicians from the b Instrumental program in the Hampton Inn & Suites and a special performance by Rosalind & the Way at the new Conner’s Rooftop. Guests of the event also were able to experience the new Burger Bar and tour the hotel.

The b Instrumental Program

The b Instrumental program is an effort to enhance music programs for middle and high school students in Fort Wayne Community Schools.  Donations help provide instruments to students, send students to summer camps, offer music lessons, purchase musical technology and create performance opportunities.
