Chef Michael Cerrie Inducted into the Chaîne de Rôtisseurs
Chef Cerrie is the only chef in Erie to have the professional member status in the society
Merrillville, Ind. (March 25, 2013): Chef Michael Cerrie, the executive chef at the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Grille, was inducted on March 11th as Chef Rôtisseur, a professional member, into the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs’ Pittsburgh Bailliage (chapter) in downtown Pittsburgh, Pa.
Of the 120 professional and non-professional members in the Pittsburgh region, Chef Cerrie is the only professional member in Erie and one of about a dozen Chef Rôtisseurs within the Pittsburgh Chapter. It is a privilege to be inducted with professional status, as only a quarter of the global society consists of professional affiliates.
“I am so proud of Chef Cerrie’s incredible accomplishment of becoming a member in a society of such tradition and revere,” said Chuck Collins, general manager of the Sheraton Erie Bayfront hotel. “It is an honor to have him at the Bayfront Grille and share his culinary talents with our guests.”
Obtaining the Chef Rôtisseur membership within the society typically requires the appointed chef’s establishment to host a themed dinner for 40 to 120 members of the society that includes seven courses paired with the finest spirits. However, Chef Cerrie’s talents secured him the rare opportunity to join the society without hosting the traditional dinner prior to his induction.
“I was honored to be invited by the Pittsburgh Chapter’s Baili (president) while he dined at our Bayfront Grille,” said Chef Cerrie. “In doing so, he already sampled several of our plates and waived the dinner that is usually associated with induction into the society. “
Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the world’s oldest international gastronomic society, was founded in 1248 to promote the hospitality arts and now boasts over 22,000 members worldwide. The organization celebrates the pleasures of fine cuisine and wine, encourages the development of young professionals by awarding scholarships, sponsors competitions and fosters camaraderie among members around the world.
