FIRST EXTENDED STAY PROPERTY OPENS AT MIDWAY HOTEL CENTER

MERRILLVILLE, IN (October 27, 2008) – The first upscale extended stay hotel in the Midway Airport area, the 132-room Residence Inn hotel officially welcomed its first guests today. Located inside the Midway Hotel Center, just two blocks from Chicago’s Midway Airport, the property was developed and is owned by Chicago’s Weglarz Company and is managed by White Lodging of Northwest Indiana.

With the addition of the Residence Inn, the Midway Hotel Center now offers guests over 1,300 rooms and more than 14,000 square feet of flexible event space, further reinforcing Weglarz Company’s and White Lodging’s goal of bringing premium lodging and dining destinations to both Chicagoans and travelers within the Midway Airport area.

The five-story Residence Inn offers travelers unexpected pleasures, including the free Home Touch hot breakfast buffet and complimentary manager’s reception. The hotel also features accommodations not widely available among existing hotels such as separate living, working, eating and sleeping areas in their beautifully-appointed studio, one and two bedroom suites. General Manager Darrell Edens joins the Residence Inn team with a wealth of experience with the Marriott brand, having served as Dual Property General Manager for the Bloomingdale Residence Inn and Courtyard by Marriott properties and, most recently, as General Manager for the Residence Inn in South Bend, Ind. Overseeing sales efforts at the property is Director of Sales Tammy Knor, a 15-year veteran in the hospitality industry in various capacities.
