MIDWAY HOTEL CENTER WELCOMES 8TH HOTEL – THE HOLIDAY INN CHICAGO/MIDWAY AIRPORT
MERRILLVILLE, IN (October 10, 2008) – The new 146-room Holiday Inn Chicago/Midway Airport hotel officially opened its doors to the public today, welcoming guests from all areas. Owned and developed by Chicago-based Weglarz Company and managed by Merrillville-based White Lodging, the hotel is located inside the Midway Hotel Center just two blocks from Chicago Midway Airport in Bedford Park, IL.
The hotel development reinforces the vision of Weglarz family patriarch Jack Weglarz, and his two sons Jon and Mark, in creating an inviting, comfortable, high quality lodging and dining destination for all the neighborhood residents, businesses and Chicago travelers within the Midway airport area. The Weglarz Company and White Lodging originally partnered together back in 1994 when White Lodging was awarded the management contract for the Hampton Inn hotel.
In conjunction with its national campaign to re-design, re-launch and re-build the Holiday Inn brand, the Holiday Inn Chicago/Midway hotel showcases the brands newest rejuvenated look. The newly constructed 5-story building offers an urban, contemporary style and fresh, natural color palette with redesigned brand signage. All guestrooms feature new bedding package with triple-sheeting, enhanced bathrooms with signature shower curtain and curved rods. Additionally, the hotel offers over 2,100 square feet of meeting space, complimentary high-speed internet access, complimentary airport shuttle to and from Chicago Midway Airport and a best-in-the-class customer service philosophy.
Also opening at the Holiday Inn Chicago Midway, is the hotel’s restaurant - Coaches Sports Bar and Grill. An addition like no other to the area, Coaches Sport Bar and Grill is the first high definition sports bar in the local area, with a wide variety of sporting event broadcast all day every day on one of several individually controlled HD televisions. Coaching history and an extensive collection of memorabilia bring Chicago sports legends and history back to the forefront of our guests. Director of Food and Beverage Csilla Kittlinger comes on board to oversee operations. At Coaches Sports Bar and Grill, winning never tasted so good!

General Manager Craig Pearson joins the Holiday Inn team with an extensive background of over 22 years in the hospitality industry. He was most recently Assistant General Manager for the prestigious Blackstone, A Renaissance hotel in downtown Chicago where he oversaw the rooms division pre-opening operations of the historic renovation of the 332-room luxury hotel. Overseeing sales efforts at the property is Director of Sales Tammy Knor, a 23-year veteran in the sales arena in various capacities. Additionally, Director of Sales and Marketing for the entire Midway Hotel Center, Jeff Hess, has played a significant role in the pre-opening sales efforts of the hotel and has extensive experience in the industry.
With the addition of the Holiday Inn, the Midway Hotel Center offers travelers a selection of eight premium branded hotels in a central, campus-like setting including the Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Sleep Inn and Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites. Later this month, the Weglarz Company plans to complete construction on a new Residence Inn, bringing the number of rooms on the campus to over 1,300. Restaurants include Dempsey’s Irish-American Grill, TGI Friday’s and the new Coaches Sports Bar and Grill.
